privacy preserving social norm nudges

  • by

In an article published in  Michigan Telecommunications and Technology Law Review, Vol. 26, 2019  Oren Perez (together with  Yifat Nahmias, Yotam Shlomo, and Uri Stemmer) argued that using social norm nudges can pose a threat to individuals’ privacy through re-identification of anonymised data. This risk has become more immanent with the increasing availability of massive data online. The article argues that the strategy of differential privacy can be used to mitigate these privacy risks and offer a way to employ social norms nudges while protecting individuals’ privacy.
