AI and Legal Personality

On 8 July 2020 Klaus Heine gave a lecture on ‘Artificial Intelligence and Legal Personality’ at the Erasmus Data Summit 2020.

AIs mimic human-like decisions, but they are no humans. This raises the question about the legal status of AIs. Is it appropriate to grant AIs the status of a distinct legal person to which responsibility and legal obligations can be attributed? What is the advantage for doing so? This webinar mapped some of the pending questions and stimulated an out of the box discussion.
