Student communities in the Netherlands more and more seek to develop their awareness of the impact AI might have on society, even where formal curricula fall short in this regard. DIGOV senior fellow Evert Stamhuis served as a speaker in two student associations’ activities in the recent past, to share the results of the DIGOV research. On March 3, 2021 he gave a talk on “Algorithms in Courts” to the joint audience of the Erasmus Tech Community and the Law Students Association. To the Utrecht Molengraaff Dispuut he presented his work on “Liability for AI applications in the medical sector” on March 4, 2021. Students showed increased interest in the topics and evaluated both activities as very satisfactory.
